Pt. I: ADH Diesel: Keeping Northwest Queensland Moving

ADH Diesel is located in the heart of Northwest Queensland, surrounded by rough landscapes and busy mining industries. ADH Diesel, led by Aaron Hooley, has emerged as a key player in servicing Mount Isa, Cloncurry, and beyond, focusing on the maintenance of earthmoving equipment and mine sites.

The company was founded a few years ago, started as a maintenance team for earthmoving equipment and mine sites before specializing in excavators.

"We predominantly are a maintenance team that goes around earthmoving equipment and mine sites. Any sort of range of equipment, then a bit later on we started specializing in the excavators and it has led us to where we are now," says Aaron as he recalls the humble beginnings of the business.

One of the most key points in their history was their relationship with BOA Hydraulics, which resulted in the acquisition of their own mobile hydraulic hose repair unit, the BOApod, an important asset in helping local mine sites.

With a dedicated workforce qualified to handle their unit, ADH Diesel guarantees that equipment remains operational, reducing downtime and increasing output.

They provide a broad range of excavator maintenance services, from auto electrical repairs to mechanical and hydraulic repairs. While the mining business remains their core emphasis, they also expand their skills into the construction and agriculture sectors, reflecting versatility and adaptability in their operations.

Aaron points out the significance of being prepared in their remote location, where obtaining components can be difficult. He goes on to say, "We face challenges day to day with our business. It's always a different problem every day. So, one of the major ones is parts recruitment. We're very remote so there's usually a fair bit of downtime due to parts, so a lot of pre-planning is required."

Despite the inherent limitations of operating in a remote area, ADH Diesel is dedicated to provide great service to its clients. Aaron's ambition for the company is to become a one-stop shop for mechanical repairs on large earthmoving equipment, always extending their capabilities to match the changing needs of the industry.

In an environment where resilience and resourcefulness reign supreme, ADH Diesel stands out as a beacon of dependability and skill, ensuring that Northwest Queensland continues to thrive and prosper.

As Aaron accurately puts it, "Wherever we're needed, we try to be there."
