BOAhub automating hydraulic asset management
The BOAhub app, first released in December 2019 with a simple inventory management functionality, is developing into a multi-purpose application that gives companies greater control and autonomy over their downtime.
“What we’re aiming for here is to involve our entire community of BOApod operators in reducing downtime for contractors in the forestry, agricultural, civil construction, demolition, mining, and quarrying industries,” says Simon Boakes, CEO of BOA Hydraulics. “With Find A BOApod, users no longer have to wait hours for a hose technician to service their machine. We’re aiming to reduce downtime for heavy machinery operators, and the costs associated with callout fees and hose replacement. This tool makes hydraulic hose repair more transparent and user-friendly through technology”.
The BOAhub app also includes an intuitive hose maker for building your own hoses, smart find identification for ease of identifying fittings, scan-to-order functionality, and the ability to order, track and sell inventory. This empowers users to manage the full lifecycle of their hydraulic hoses, including in preventative maintenance, which further reduces unplanned downtime, oil spillages, and operational costs.
Changing the way we think about hydraulic hose repair and preventative maintenance
At BOA Hydraulics, we’re advocating for a shift away from reactive hydraulic hose repair, and towards preventative maintenance of hydraulic assets.
Unplanned downtime drastically reduces productivity and profitability on assets. By developing a more proactive mindset, and planning the downtime and servicing of hydraulic equipment, companies can reduce their unplanned downtime by up to 85%.
“We’re excited to see many early adopters find great use in the BOAhub app,” says Boakes. “We expect the Find A BOApod feature will further catalyse change in terms of how we think about and maintain hydraulic machinery.”
