Track record of success for Thomassen Logging Group

Setting up to make their own hydraulic hoses in August 2016, Taupo based loggers Thomassen Logging Group has a proven track record of significant financial and time savings.

Thomassen Logging Group is a large-scale operation with a crew in Lake Taupo Forest, 3 crews in Kinlieth Forest and 3 crews doing stems in Kaingaroa Forest. Owner Ron Thomassen says the amount and cost of downtime were key factors driving them to make their own hoses.

Ron services his crews with a workshop setup and mobile unit set up in a ute.

Thomassen Logging Group partner with BOA Hydraulics

Choosing to partner with BOA Hydraulics was easy for Ron. When we ask why, he says there were 4 main reasons for his decision, including:

  • outstanding service provided by BOA
  • products containing recognised brands and of high quality
  • a hands-on approach from BOA during set up, including providing bins with labelled parts, and
  • comprehensive hydraulic training of Thomassen Logging operators to ensure they could safely make hydraulic hoses.

The BOA Integrated Solution incorporates innovative and high quality products, technology, and comprehensive training. This full solution ensures BOA customers have everything they need to safely repair and replace hydraulic hoses.

2 years of building and replacing hydraulic hoses

Now, nearly 2 years on, Ron says the results speak for themselves.

“The two areas we save the most is the uptime of our machines – our machines are going all the time, and that alone is huge. When the machines are broken down, no money. Another place that we do save is in the cost of the hoses, I’m saving up to 50% on some other suppliers, so that’s good for me and good for my pocket!”
