Mechanical engineers servicing hydraulic machinery with BOA

[Transcript] After Covid, Gareth was approached by BOA to become part of their community. The business model that BOA gives us fits in with our values. We really value, honesty, integrity, good craftsmanship, and making sure that your product is top-notch.

The process of acquiring our BOApod was relatively easy actually. We got to have a Zoom meeting with the directors of BOA; [they] sounded like a really good team to work with and a good team to fit in with. We signed the lease and a few weeks later, our BOApod was delivered to us fully stocked.

Training and support for hydraulic hose assembly

After Duncan trained us, I felt confident in doing a hose myself - so girls can do it too! We went out to a farm, and right there in the middle of the paddock, we were replacing hoses on a tractor as we made the hose. We scanned it on our BOAhub app, and we took out all the fittings used, so when we jumped back in the truck, it was just a press-to-confirm order. In the morning, we had the parts to restock our trailer, so there’s hardly any turnaround time and it’s quick and easy.

BOApod features

The features of the trailer were the main reasons we were sold on it; it’s so much more ergonomic, and you’re able to walk around the trailer. It’s got hoses on one side, which again means there’s no lugging or pulling the hose around - it’s all remote-controlled.

I love the solar panel, that is the best idea ever. The fact that it powers our press, it powers the saw, it powers the compressor. We can even charge our laptops on there if we needed to. We thought about the impact on the environment, and we also like the understall tray - we can chuck all the rubbish in there. We like to be sustainable and so we can store all the old hoses and take the rubbish with us. We’re not leaving it onsite.

I like the fact that our BOApod was delivered with quality Yokohama hoses; it’s good knowing that we’ve got hoses coming from really well-known brands.

It is nice dealing with a company that is family orientated, with those family values, but with the professionalism of a corporate. If someone else was considering getting a BOApod I would just say ‘do it’. Because you have that help and support without being a franchise, we don’t have the rules and limitations that are put on you when you do sign up with a franchise. Therefore, we are afforded more respect as an independent company ourselves.

Essentially you have got nothing to lose, so just go for it.
